Captain

Home Port:
Rock Hall, Maryland / Ridge, Maryland / Beaufort, NC

Captain Brian became interested in skipjacks and sailing at an early age while growing up near Rock Hall, Maryland. As a child he would watch the skipjack fleet working Hodges Bar, Gales Shoal and Tolchester Lump. As he saw them sail towards shore he would race down to the marina to watch the watermen unload, and to marvel at the last great commercial sailing fleet almost at its end. While growing up in Rock Hall he learned oystering and sailing. Years later he has sailed throughout the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays, the North Carolina Sounds and from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Trinidad and Venezuela.

Captain Brian has a broad background in biology, estuarine ecology, oystering, and sailing. He enjoys spending time sailing and working on Ada Fears and sharing his love for the waters of the Chesapeake Bay with others.

She fills the roles of first mate, bosum mate, and deckhand. She has a knack for sanding, painting and finish work. She works twice as hard as most men, and does a better job in the end.

Bosen / Deckhand

Home Port: Ridge, Maryland

Dudley has sailed the Chesapeake Bay since his days back in Annapolis. He is quite knowledgable about Southern Maryland and the St. Mary's River. His first duty aboard the Ada Fears was to climb the mast to cut down the jammed jib halyard. Ever since then, he has been onboard volunteering his time and skills as a boatswain and deckhand. He enjoys utilizing his sailing skills; trying to get the most out of the wind and out of the old girl, especially during Skipjack races.

Nanjemoy, Maryland & Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Troy has sailed the Central Chesapeake Bay with Captain Brian on and off now for over 10 years. Troy is very knowledgeable when it comes to the natural environment, ecology, flora, fauna and algae of the Chesapeake Bay.
